My belief in wanting to use engineering to solve the world’s problems has always been something I believed in and it seems like this is needed now more than ever.
I studied chemical engineering in Queen’s University Belfast (2001-2005) but my Erasmus trip to Chalmers Tekniska Hogskola in Göteborg, where I studied Enviromental Sustainable Process Technology was a great influence and guide to future work.
Upon graduating, I worked at Shell for 10 years (2005-2015) in a variety of roles but much of that time was spent on environmental improvement work and process safety.
I then worked at NOV (2015-2019) as first a process engineer and then in sales of separation process packages. It was a great job and company but the travel was too much for a me and my growing family.
In 2019, I founded DOME Energy and began working as a contractor. The freelance work suited me, as I’d learned a lot about the industry from my time at NOV, I prefer to pick and choose technologies, projects and clients – based on my own style of working.
With DOME, I’ve worked with a variety of clients on a wide range of technologies as a process engineer. This includes work on Carbon Capture and Storage (Storegga, Shell), process safety (Perenco, INEOS), and in electricification (PX, INEOS).
